Overview

GetYouTubeTranscript turns YouTube videos into text. Paste a link on the website to get the full transcript in seconds, or use the REST API to get transcripts and video metadata inside your own app, script, AI agent or automation, without a Google API key.

Key Features

• Transcripts: GET /transcript returns the transcript text, language, title, channel, thumbnail and word count for any video ID or URL.
• Search: GET /search searches YouTube with country, language and pagination (up to 50 results per page).
• Playlists: GET /playlist returns a playlist's videos (first page for now).
• Channel IDs: GET /resolve turns a handle or URL into a channel ID, free.
• Remote MCP server: Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor can fetch transcripts and search YouTube directly.
• n8n node and Chrome extension: use transcripts in workflows, or ask AI about a video while you watch it.
• Clear errors: every error has a stable code, and failed requests are never charged.

Getting Started

1. Create an API key in the dashboard (100 free credits, no card).
2. Send it as Authorization: Bearer sk_live_... to https://getyoutubetranscript.com/api/v1.
3. Call GET /transcript?v=<video> and read the JSON.
4. For AI assistants, connect the remote MCP server or use the Claude Skill.

Pricing & Plans

• Free: 100 credits once, no card.
• Monthly: $5/month for 1,000 credits.
• Annual: $4.50/month ($54/year) for 1,000 credits a month. 1 credit = 1 successful request. Channel lookups and credit checks are free.
