Matcha Remover

Matcha Remover is a free, browser-based tool designed to remove the green or olive cast often associated with the "matcha filter" from both photos and videos. It provides a private and efficient workspace where users can soften unwanted green tints, bringing back a more natural and balanced look to their media. The platform emphasizes user privacy, performing all processing locally within the browser, meaning no files are uploaded to a server, no account is needed, and all operations are conducted without watermarks.

The workflow is straightforward, involving three main steps:

1. Open: Users begin by selecting their photo or video file. Supported image formats include JPG, PNG, and WebP, with an input limit of 25 MB. For videos, MP4, MOV, and WebM are supported, with an input limit of 200 MB. Crucially, files remain on the user's device throughout the process.
2. Adjust: The tool offers presets like "Natural," "Gentle," and "Strong" to provide a starting point for correction. Users can then fine-tune the "Correction strength" to blend the adjustment with the original, making it easy to compare subtle changes. Additional adjustments for saturation, contrast, and texture smoothing are available to achieve the desired natural appearance. The interface allows for a side-by-side comparison with the original, ensuring users can make informed decisions before finalizing their edits.
3. Export: Once satisfied, users can download a fresh, corrected copy of their media. For photos, output options include PNG (lossless) and JPG (smaller file), with an export edge up to 4096 pixels. Video exports are available in MP4 (H.264) or WebM (VP8) formats, with longest edge options of 1280 or 1920 pixels. The original file is never overwritten, preserving the source material.

Matcha Remover is particularly useful for individuals looking to quickly and privately correct color casts without needing complex software or online accounts. It's ideal for restoring natural skin tones, balancing landscapes, and generally improving the visual fidelity of media affected by strong green filters. While it excels at color correction and light smoothing, it's important to note that it cannot reconstruct lost detail or identify exact original colors without a reference. The tool also includes a reproducible color sample chart for users to experiment with and understand the correction mechanisms before applying them to personal media. Its commitment to local processing ensures that user data remains secure and private.
